The Arkansas Gas Association (AGA) is a statewide organization with membership consisting of the state’s natural gas distribution companies: CenterPoint Energy, Black Hills Energy-Arkansas Gas, Arkansas Oklahoma Gas Corp., and over 100 other members, including natural gas production companies, product and supply vendors.
As an organization we are committed to the development and promotion of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) as the vehicular fuel of choice for the state of Arkansas. CNG is clean, affordable, abundant, and domestically produced. It is the “bridge fuel” for today and tomorrow that will cut our dependency on foreign fuel creating a secure America. More importantly it will create jobs and economic prosperity for Arkansans.
The business of the Arkansas Gas Association includes promoting natural gas as a safe and efficient energy source; providing quality training for industry personnel; providing services to the production, transportation, and distribution segments of the natural gas industry; encouraging, supporting and promoting new natural gas technologies; and promoting natural gas industry allies (HVAC contractors, plumbers, appliance dealers and natural gas vehicle specialists.
The Arkansas Advanced Energy Association (AAEA) is the business voice for advanced energy in Arkansas. AAEA is dedicated to growing Arkansas’s economy through expanded utilization of advanced energy technologies, including energy efficiency, demand response, natural gas electric generation, solar, wind, hydro, nuclear, electric vehicles, alternative fuels and smart grid. These are innovations that make our energy supply more secure, clean and affordable.
CenterPoint Energy, Inc., headquartered in Houston, Texas, is a domestic energy delivery company that includes electric transmission & distribution, natural gas distribution and energy services operations. With more than 7,400 employees, CenterPoint Energy and its predecessor companies have been in business for more than 140 years.
Each semester, more than 6,700 students begin their future at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith. Established as a junior college with 34 students in 1928, the university expanded in size and vision over the years, finally taking on its current name and identity as a premier regional university when it joined the University of Arkansas System in 2002.
UAFS is one of 18 academic institutions and affiliates governed by the University of Arkansas System board of trustees and administered by the president of the system. System offices are located in Little Rock. As a public university, UAFS is overseen by the Arkansas Department of Higher Education.
Arkansas Oklahoma Gas Corporation (AOG) is a natural gas company serving approximately 60,000 customers in Western Arkansas and Eastern Oklahoma. AOG provides natural gas service to residential, commercial and industrial customers and also transports natural gas produced from local wells to the interstate pipeline system. AOG is headquartered in Fort Smith, Arkansas in the heart of the Arkoma Basin, an area rich in natural gas production. Local natural gas wells connected directly to AOG’s pipeline system provide much of the gas supply necessary for serving the needs of AOG’s customers. These local supplies, in combination with AOG’s ability to obtain natural gas from interstate pipelines, enable AOG to insure a high level of service reliability.
AOG is continuously upgrading and expanding its pipeline system and developing new sources of natural gas supply in an effort to meet the growing and ever-changing needs of its most valuable asset—the customer.
OGE Energy Corp. is headquartered in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and is publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol OGE. It is the parent company of Oklahoma Gas and Electric (OG&E), a regulated utility and holds a 25.7 percent limited partner interest and 50 percent general partner interest in Enable Midstream Partners, LP, also headquartered in Oklahoma City.
Formed in 1902, OG&E is Oklahoma’s oldest and largest investor-owned electric utility. We serve more than 830,000 customers in 276 towns and cities in a 30,000 square mile area of Oklahoma and western Arkansas. The largest city on our system, Oklahoma City, has a metro area population of approximately 1.5 million people. But we also serve towns like Enid, Ardmore, Muskogee, Norman, Durant, Ft. Smith Ark., as well as many other smaller communities throughout our service territory. We have approximately 2,500 employees who live and work in the very communities we serve.
Our power plants, located throughout Oklahoma, generate electricity using natural gas, coal, wind and solar power.
